Why hire a motorhome to tour Scotland?

When we talk about some of the most popular tourist destinations in the world Scotland appears high on the list, well known for its arresting scenery, friendly locals, and complex history. A huge number of tourists flock to Scotland for vacations and motorhome tours are very popular due to its gorgeous scenery and relative ease of travel. There are numerous motorhome operating companies offer quality services to tourists from all over the world.

Why hire a Motorhome?

Motorhomes, or camping cars, are the perfect way to meet new people and tour the country at your leisure and enjoy the charms of semi-outdoors living. A motorhome tour gives you the perfect opportunity to spend quality time with the family whilst exploring the awe inspiring Scottish landscape and its beautiful countryside. Here are some of the advantages of taking a motorhome tour:

Feel at home in your motorhome.

At Motorhome Escapes, our motorhomes come complete with plenty of top-notch living facilities so you’re bound to feel like you’re at home – only that you’ll be touring Scotland at the same time! All of our motorhomes’ sleeping, dining and bathroom facilities make for a cosy and comfortable living environment.

Plenty of freedom and everything you need at the same time.

With a motorhome tour, you can stop and take breaks whenever you like. You can also travel around whatever part of Scotland that takes your fancy and take the opportunity to make breaks along the way wherever you want to. Not only this, but you won’t have to cart huge suitcases and baggage along, check in or out of hotels or go on the lookout for food. Simply keep your motorhome stocked up on the essentials and you’ll have everything right at your fingertips!

Be part of the great outdoors.

You can engage in a whole medley of fantastic outdoor activities or even follow an itinerary and see what Scotland has in store for you. We recommend the VisitScotland itinerary guide, which has loads of useful info on trails of interest to history buffs, birdwatchers, golf fanatics, and of course those who want to sample the best of Scottish cuisine and whisky culture. We will also provide recommended itenaries and routes for all of our customers.

Huge choice of camp grounds to pick from.

Camp sites are available and easily accessible all around Scotland, providing you with the chance to socialize with others campers and tourists who are engaging in a similar camping car experience. There’s a whole multitude of private, public and government-owned camp grounds to choose from. ScottishCamping, UKcampsite.co.uk, and Pitchup are great places to browse camp sites and caravan sites throughout Scotland. At Motorhome Escapes we are members of the Camping and Caravanning Club, so we can provide you with member prices at their sites, and when you hire a motorhome from Motorhome Escapes we will provide you with a ‘Big Site Book’ and online link so that you can plan your route.

Free camping.

Wild camping, as it is often called, is not legal in England and Wales, but off-site camping is more tolerated in Scotland. This type of camping is great if you want to get away from the hustle of a camp site and park up in a quiet location with a view all to yourselves, which is what Scotland is all about! If you do want to do some ‘wild camping’ in your motorhome please do respect the locals and environment, keep a low profile, and never leave anything behind.

Children have a great time in a motorhome.

Sometimes lengthy air travel and long car journeys can make children irritable and fidgety, since they’re staying in the same place for a while without any home comforts. With a motorhome however, you can stop anywhere to explore and run off some energy; eat what you want, when it suits the family; play games or draw pictures as they travel in a comfy seat with a table. They can also have the chance to enjoy the outdoors and enjoy some unsupervised time in the safety of a camp site, some of which are specifically tailored to family groups and even provide entertainment for the children. And if the Scottish weather lets you down, our motorhomes come with flat screen TVs and DVD players (including connection for Playstation) to keep them entertained!

Good value for money.

A motorhome, or camping car, holiday offers good value for money when compared with staying in hotels and eating out, or staying in self-catering properties and hiring a car.
