Motorhome Easter Holiday Ideas for April 2015

As we head into April, Easter time approaches, which means lots of family moments spent with the kids and lots of chocolate! What better way to spend this quality time together than in one of our 6 berth motorhomes. Equipped with two double beds and one bunk bed there’s room for the whole family, and a full entertainment system to ensure they’ll never get bored. Although there’s so much going on in April, there won’t be time to watch DVDs!

Tartan Day Scotland Festival

3 – 12 April 2015 Market Street, Forfar, Angus, DD8 3WD

Tartan Day in Ottawa 2010

Why not celebrate your Easter break in Scotland with the (incredibly Scottish) Tartan Day Scotland Festival which takes place at the beginning of April each year. The Festival is a celebration of what it is to be a Scot; past and present, near and far. By the end of your visit you’ll be an expert on famous people of Scotland and why Tartan Day is celebrated around the world. It’s a great opportunity for you and the kids to learn more about the Scottish culture and have fun too.

Close-by in Perth enjoy a family fun   Easter Weekend at Scone Palace from Saturday 4th to Sunday 5th April. Their Easter schedule is bursting with things to see and do. Explore and take in the beauty of the Palace and its grounds with Easter themed hunts in the gardens and Palace state Rooms and roll your own painted egg down the famous Moot Hill.

In the afternoons the Easter bunny will make an appearance so get ready to impress him with face painting and glitter tattoos. Outdoor games and pottery painting are sure to keep you busy and there will also be a Hog Roast and BBQ to keep everyone’s energy levels up.

Noah’s Ark Caravan Park , Newhouse Farm, Perth is the perfect location to set up camp with your motorhome for both the Tartan Day festival and Easter Weekend. It has great facilities and a child’s play barn, go-karting, bowling and golf driving range, making it an Easter break essential.

As an alternative to Scone Palace you could always take the family to Traquair’s Eastereggstravaganza, Innerleithen (try saying that without getting tongue-tied) which takes place on Sunday 5th April.

Explore the Borders as you navigate a maze of carefully hidden Easter eggs; the kids (and adults) will be searching all day in the striking woodlands and grounds of Traquair House. When you’re done treasure hunting head to the beautiful walled gardens where there’s face-painting, Easter bonnet making and plenty more to keep everyone occupied.

There’s also the Traquair House Brewery of which the adults amongst you may want to sneak off and have a cheeky tour and tasting, unless you’re the one driving the motorhome that is!

Edinburgh International Science Festival, 4th to 19th April

Right in time for the Easter break get ready to celebrate the world of science and technology with plenty of experiments and demonstrations to get to grips with. Age, education or experience doesn’t matter, you’re guaranteed to find heaps of things to do for everyone. You’ll probably end up having just as much fun as the kids, and learn something new too. It’s also a good break from all those Easter eggs you’ve eaten!

With so much to tire out your little ones you’ll be able to relax in the evening in your cosy motorhome while the kids snooze away in the bunk beds. Perfect.
